Join us for Burns Night on Saturday 25th…
Last year we promised you some exciting new events for 2025. I’m pleased to share our very first celebration, a four course Burns Night Supper complete with a piper from the Wiltshire Caledonian Pipes and Drums band.
It should be quite a night……
NEW OPENING HOURS
Some more good news… we are now OPEN ALL DAY from Tuesday to Sunday! You can breakfast 6 days a week from 9am - 10.30am, drop in for a pint mid afternoon, and from the 12th Jan we will be opening Sunday evenings until 8pm, so if you fancy an early evening drink to make the most of your weekend then pop along.
My Menu Recommendations
I wanted to start sharing some of my favourite dishes with you from our current menu.
Aptly to begin I’ve chosen two starters. The first is our Wiltshire Game Terrine. It’s packed full of local produce and served with a chunky slice of sourdough and finished with home-made pickles & brown sauce. Delicious!
The second, is something I’ve only tried recently, and absolutely fallen in love with. Italian buratta, it’s a delicious cheese made with mozzarella and cream, has a soft centre and melts in your mouth. Served here with the perfect accompaniment of blood orange, bitter leaves and a drizzle of herb oil. Apologies for my photo, the buratta’s tucked under the leaves in the middle!

GARDENER REQUIRED
We are looking for a gardener to tend our lovely George garden. If you know of anyone with gardening experience who might be interested (jobs will include mowing, pruning and weeding) then please get in touch with our general manager Lindsay on 01225 865650.
What a beautiful part of the country we live in!
I will leave you with a photo of our very own Kennet and Avon Canal, the stretch from Dundas Aqueduct to BoA, taken last Friday, you could almost imagine Spring was on the way. It’s a cracking local walk, especially if it’s too muddy to brave the fields.
